The LNG Carrier model is a combination type portable CH4, O2, CO and CO2 gas detector with an Infrared (NDIR) type sensor, galvanic cell type sensor and Electro-chemical cell type sensor. These sensors provide accurate detection of CH4, O2, CO and CO2 levels even in N2 and other inert environemnts. The measuring ranges are 0-100%LEL / 0-100%vol for CH4, 0-25%vol for O2, 0-1000ppm for CO and 0-20.0%vol for CO2 respectively. Individuals need personal protection in hazardous areas at all times without adding extra bulky equipment, and the 03 Series can provide that kind of protection at an affordable price. The GP-03, OX-03, CO-03, and HS-03 models are personal single gas monitors designed for protection from exposure to combustible hydrocarbons, oxygen deficiency, hydrogen sulfide, or carbon monoxide.

The O2, CO, and H2S versions can be operated continuously for at least 3,000 hours on (2) AAA size alkaline batteries. The GP-03 operates for 35 hours on alkaline and 30 hours on rechargeable Ni-MH. The 03 models have 2 preset alarms that are user adjustable. Each version is also equipped with visual, audible, and vibration alarms as standard.

The replacement sensors are inexpensive, easily field replaceable, and are interchangeable with other popular RKI instruments like the GX-2009, GX-2012, and GasWatch 2. Sensors for LEL and O2 have a life expectancy of over 2 years. Sensors for H2S and CO have a life expectancy of over 3 years.

Explosion proof S2 Sensor/Transmitter

The explosion proof sensors use a variety of detection mechanisms including catalytic for LEL and LEL- H2 specific; metal oxide semiconductor for hydrogen; galvanic cell technology for oxygen; electrochemical for hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide; and infrared for carbon dioxide, methane, and hydrocarbons. A hydrogen specific sensor transmitter is not available. Each of these detection methods come with their own measuring range specifications and response times varying from 20 seconds to 45 seconds. These sensors are stainless steel and are housed in a cast aluminum explosion proof J-Box (a stainless steel J-Box is also available).

Non-explosion proof S2 Sensor/Transmitter

The non-explosion proof sensors use galvanic cells for oxygen detection; electrochemical technology for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, and other toxics; and infrared technology for carbon dioxide detection. GD-K71D-H2S-30 GD-K71D Smart Transmitter, Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), 0 - 30 ppm by RKI Instruments

The GD-K71D is a complete sample drawing gas monitor, including digital readout and alarm relays. A new gas sensor technology using an intelligent sensor for remote location calibration and setup is used. The new GD-K71D sensors are designed to provide a longer time period between calibrations. Calibration intervals have been extended to12 months of on-line service which equates to reduced maintenance cost. In addition, the sensors can be calibrated away from the gas detector installation, for example in a service area or off site. This eliminates the inconvenience of having calibration gases in the fab or monitoring location. GD-K71D easily connects to an existing PLC system and is ideal for applications needing a local readout or where a relay control is needed. The automatic zero correction software provides excellent long term stability and minimizes false alarms due to zero drift.

The 35-3010RK series is a compact sample draw detector assembly with a built-in pump that accepts a 24VDC input. This unit features a NEMA 4X enclosure making it dust, water and corrosion resistant. It also features a flowmeter with adjustable flow and a low flow alarm which warns of any obstructions or restrictions in the flow system. Combustibles, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide versions are available in many different combinations. Combustibles and oxygen versions can be suplied with or without a 4-20 mA transmitter. The 35-3010RK series can also be configured with RKI's super toxic sensors offering a wide range of detectable toxic gases.

The 35-3010RK is capable of single person calibrations and can be installed up to 500 ft. from a controller, and can interface to any RKI or third party control system (utilizing a 4-20 mA feedback signal). This is a very cost effective way of monitoring for several gases that may be in the same place, and for applications where the sensors cannot be located directly in the area to be monitored. The pump is capable of drawing a sample up to 50' from the sample point.

Detection solutions for a variety of hazardous environments

The Direct Connect Sensors are designed to be use in both indoor and outdoor settings. Additionally, some of the sensors are available in explosion proof models. The explosion proof models utilize a patented coating which serves double duty as also being water repellant. Users can also purchase splash guards to protect the sensors from very wet conditions.

Sensor Technology

Each sensor is crafted with stainless steel and housed in cast aluminum (stainless steel housing is available for some sensors). The Direct Connect Sensors are available in 2 forms: explosion proof and non-explosion proof. The explosion proof sensors are available as catalytic sensors for LEL, and LEL H2 specific. For hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide, the sensors utilize electrochemical technology which provides incredibly specific accuracy and quick response. Oxygen sensors work with galvanic technology, and infrared sensors for methane, hydrocarbons, and carbon dioxide. Non-explosion proof uses a galvanic sensor for oxygen; electrochemical sensors for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases; and infrared for carbon dioxide. Both explosion proof and non-explosion proof have 1 year warranties for materials and craftsmanship.

Specifications

The response times are under 30 seconds for all gases except hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide in the non-explosion versions (with a response time of 35 seconds) and non-explosion proof model sensor for toxic gases which has a 60 second response time. The life expectancy of all sensors are between 2 and 5 years.

The Crude Oil Tanker model is a combination type portable HC, O2, and H2s gas detector with an Infrared (NDIR) type sensor, galvanic cell type sensor and Electro-chemical cell type sensor. These sensors provide accurate detection of HC, O2 and H2S levels even in N2 and other inert environments. The measuring ranges of model RX-516 are 0-100%LEL / 0-10%vol for HC, 0-25% vol for O2 and 0-100.0ppm for H2S respectively. A higher range for H2S (0-1,000ppm) is available in model RX-517. A manual switch is used to change the flow to a unique path for high H2S applications to protect the other sensors. The RKI Direct Connect series gas sensors are highly reliable and very cost effective for the detection of common gas hazards. The direct connect series are available for LEL, H2 Specific LEL, LEL IR, Oxygen, H2S, CO, CO2, and for a variety of toxic gases. The sensors for LEL, H2, Oxygen, H2S, CO2, and Carbon Monoxide are explosion-proof with flame arrestors, and approved for use in hazardous areas (Class 1, Div. 1 Groups B, C, D). An optional non-explosion proof version is available for oxygen, H2S, CO, and CO2 for use in non-hazardous atmospheres.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used in two different ways. The sensors can be mounted directly to the controllers as a complete stand alone system, or they can be mounted to explosion proof junction boxes for remote detection.

The toxic sensors are electrochemical type plug-in sensors, which provide high specificity, fast response, and long life. The plug-in design allows quick replacement in the field with no tools required. Toxic sensors are designed for use in Class I, Div. 2 hazardous locations. Sensors are available for NH3, SO2, PH3, AsH3, and HCN.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used either indoors or outdoors. The flame arrestors for the explosion-proof versions utilize a patented coating which make them water repellent.
