Ultrasonic

VPE Basic Kit by Superior AccuTrak

The Patented Superior AccuTrak® VPE represents state-of-the-art technology for pinpointing leaks in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. AccuTrak® is extremely sensitive to the ultrasonic sound of a turbulent gas leak. Using a technology called "heterodyning" it translates the sound to a lower frequency which your ear can interpret. AccuTrak maintains the original sound characteristics making it possible to distinguish leaks from other competing background sounds. AccuTrak is so sensitive you can actually hear the blink of an eye, yet most background noise will not interfere with detection accuracy.

Superior AccuTrak® advanced patented technology has never been so affordable! The AccuTrak® VPE Basic Kit is for technicians who require only the essentials to detect leaks using airborne ultrasound. As with all AccuTrak® instruments, the VPE finds leaks for any kind of gas or refrigerant without changing tips or components. Works equally well to find compressed air leaks, nitrogen leaks even vacuum leaks! AccuTrak® can find leaks as small as the equivalent of 1.5 oz per year of refrigerant, or can hear a 5 psi leak up to 30 feet away.

8900 0501 Sensor LD pro ultrasound detector set by Testo

Gases escaping from leaks in pipe systems (e.g. corrosion, leaky screw connections, etc.) cause noises in the ultrasonic range. With the testo Sensor LD pro ultrasonic detector kit, even the smallest leaks, which are not audible to the human ear and not visible due to their size, can already be localized from several metres away. The testo Sensor LD pro converts the inaudible ultrasound into audible frequencies. These sounds can be perceived even in noisy environments with the sound-proof headphones that are comfortable to wear.

The testo Sensor LD pro ultrasonic detector kit impresses thanks to its high-precision sensor technology and improved support in the detection of leaks (e.g. in compressed air, gas, steam and vacuum systems, refrigeration systems, door seals). The leak can be more accurately localized thanks to the integrated laser pointer which acts as a sighter.

The leakage data can be transmitted to the Testo Leak Software via a USB interface. Once the data have been exported to the software, clear reports can be created for documenting the leaks that have been found.

• Improved localization of leaks thanks to sound funnel
• Robustness and a low weight ensure non-tiring use in industrial environments
• Continuous operation for 9 hrs
• Easy operation via touchscreen
• With integrated camera: display and storage of leaks in the image
• Direct display of the leakage rate in l/min and the costs in EUR
• Transmission of leakage data to the PC via USB
• Easy creation of a report in accordance with ISO 50001 with the Testo Leak Software

VPESG2 Burst Tone Ultrasonic Sound Generator by Superior AccuTrak

The AccuTrak Sound Generator and the AccuTrak Detector form a non-invasive leak detection system capable of finding leaks in enclosures, such as buildings, vessels, automobiles, walk/reach in freezers, or any other container that needs to be leak-free.

The AccuTrak Sound Generator is used to "pressurize" rooms and enclosures with it's sound. This sound is above the human hearing range, and cannot be heard. It can penetrate through minute cracks, even ones that are not directly behind the leak point, and exit through it. It can thus trace the path air, or water, will take to cause a leak. The AccuTrak Detector receives the ultrasonic sound that escapes from the leak point, processes it and displays it's strength. The bigger the leak is, the higher the volume in the headset.

Applications:

• Buildings
• Roofing
• Automobiles
• Airplane cabins
• Walk/reach in freezers
• Any vessel that needs to be leak free!

Features:

• Burst Mode: If the background noise is extremely loud in a particular area, using Burst Tone will make the output of the sound generator much easier to identify.

SZSK-SMGXX Searchzone Sonik Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detector, SST, M25 with Adjustable Mount and Sunshade by Honeywell Analytics

Field studies have shown that around 30% of flammable gas leaks can go undetected because the gas is blown away by the wind. But if the weather conditions change, and the wind drops, the chances are that a flammable gas cloud might build up and trigger incidents and hazards.

Since traditional point and open-path devices cannot detect leaks unless the gas reaches the sensor, the need arose for a revolutionary and complementary type of gas detection technology. Instead of waiting for the gas to reach the detection device, an ultrasonic detector operates by responding to the sound created by high-pressure gas leaks at source.

The new Honeywell Searchzone Sonik is a robust and reliable gas leak detector that will efficiently "hear" the loss of containment of any high-pressure gas within its listening zone. An advanced, SIL 2 certified, hazardous area ultrasonic gas leak detector, the Searchzone Sonik responds to the ultrasonic sound pressure level produced by pressurized gas leaks and is therefore unaffected by environmental conditions.

Searchzone Sonik is factory calibrated. Its robust sealed design with no moving parts and the solid-state sensor allow for mounting in any orientation, even in the harshest environments. The gas leak detector will respond quickly to a gas leak within a sensing range radius of typically 20m (65 ft), dependent upon background noise. The intelligent background noise detection system allows the detector to be set up for maximum sensitivity while Focus Mode means that the detection area can be restricted to only include the hazard being monitored. This way you have confidence that you ll always stay safe and ultrasound.

How do you sense what you can't hear?

Since gas does not need to come into contact with their sensors, ultrasonic (or acoustic) detectors respond instantly upon "hearing" the distinct sound pattern of a leak, operating at a frequency outside the range of human hearing.

Unaffected by airflows and adverse weather conditions, they are particularly suited to open and well-ventilated areas, such as floating production storage and offloading vessels, gas turbine power plants, compressor stations, gas storage facilities, petrochemical processing plants, refineries, or offshore and onshore oil and gas installations.

Normal Mode will detect ultrasonic noise from a wide angle, which is ideal for areas that have lower or constant levels of background noise.

However generally you will generally know where the potential source of the leak is.

That is where Searchzone SonikTM comes into it's own. Switch to Focus Mode (patent pending) and Searchzone Sonik™ will enable special algorithms that effectively screen ultrasonic noise generated outside of the specific area of interest. This dramatically reduces the risk of alarms from spurious noise sources.

Suppose you are servicing an ultrasonic device that complements the point and open path gas detectors of an offshore platform. It's raining, the wind is blowing heavily, and you're on a slippery deck, a long way below the Searchzone Sonik you need to reach.

Concerned about working at heights, in awkward positions that may even threaten your safety? Think again. Thanks to an easy-to-use mobile app and a dedicated testing tool, you can connect from ground level and test the Searchzone Sonik remotely, without exposing yourself to hazards. All you need to do is to stand on the deck, connect with your smartphone, and use the testing tool to check the detector's response - it's as easy as 1, 2, 3 to have the high ground.
