Two gas detection in a single-gas device

The Draeger Pac 8500 series offers the following sensor combinations: hydrogen sulfide with carbon monoxide or oxygen with carbon monoxide. Dual sensors enable detection of even low concentrations – all in one and the same handy device. Measuring two gases at the same time reduces downtime as well. You can take vol.% measurements of oxygen and ppm measurements of carbon monoxide simultaneously using just one gas detector.

Measurement of carbon monoxide with significantly reduced cross sensitivity

In industries where carbon monoxide needs to be measured with hydrogen as a background gas, the measured value for carbon monoxide may be falsified by cross sensitivity. Thanks to the special hydrogen-compensated CO sensor from Draeger, this cross sensitivity to hydrogen is significantly reduced in the display of carbon monoxide. This new feature can eliminate the need to carry two different detectors.

Robust design – even for the toughest conditions

The Pac 8500 is easily handled in even extreme conditions. The sensors can tolerate air pressures between 700 and 1,300 mbar. A membrane filter protects the sensor from foreign matter such as dust and liquids. The shock-proof, chemical-resistant housing meets the requirements specified in the IP68 standard rating.

360° alarm with various functions

If the Draeger Pac 8500 measures hazardous gas concentrations, it sets off an audible, visual and perceptible vibrating alarm. Two bright, flashing LEDs on the top and bottom of the device ensure that the alarm is easily visible from all sides. The acoustic signal reaches a volume of 90 dB. The display can show the peak concentration measured at any given moment. Earlier alarms registered can also be retrieved at a later time, even if they have been acknowledged.

The Pac 8500 with oxygen sensor has two additional alarm thresholds in addition to the standard alarm threshold settings. This provides an additional level of safety as a pre-alarm, in addition to the main alarm, can be set for both oxygen enriched and oxygen deficient atmospheres.

Superior technology

The ZD 22 Transmitter is specifically designed for long-term monitoring of oxygen concentrations. The integrated amperometric oxygen sensor is based on an electrochemical oxygen pumping cell made of zirconium dioxide. It is characterized by its robustness, a very high life expectancy and its outstanding long-term stability. The integrated thermostatic control of the sensor element achieves accurate measuring results in the entire temperature range, regardless of the operating temperature. It can also be permanently used in environments with high concentrations of CO2 or in dry atmosphere. Special equipment is available to protect the transmitter when used in harsh environments.

Signal processing

The protective casing (IP 54) of the ZD 22 Transmitter contains the complete signal processing electronics and the failsafe routing of the measurement signal for the measuring computer, with extensive self-monitoring. The embedded software linearises the measuring signal and compensates for the effects of temperature. As a result, correct readings are transmitted even with weather related fluctuations in temperature. In addition, the transmitter can be connected to a gas measurement computer for the option of transmitting service, maintenance, and error messages.

Universal signal transmission

The ZD 22 Transmitter transmits the signals either using an analog (0.2 1mA / 4-20 mA) current interface or a digital (RS485) Modbus interface. This permits the universal use of the trasmitters in combination with GfG gas measurement computers and thus connection to a safety system, so that you and your systems will benefit from the best possible protection.

There are a variety of applications for the ZD 22 in regard to sensors, status LEDs and optional analog or digital interface, "Zero" key to calibrate the zero point, test socket and a potentiometer for the calibration of the sensor.

Stand Alone Use

The SDM-3R is a versatile maintenance tool that automates the service of a GX-3R (Pro) portable gas monitor. This docking station can be used as a stand alone device for charging, calibration and bump testing, with all records stored automatically for future upload to a PC via USB flash drive (PC software and flash drive included).

PC-Controlled Use

Automate how you manage and service GX-3R (Pro) instruments by connecting the SDM-3R to a computer with a USB cable. With the SDM Docking Station controller software, you can simultaneously calibrate, bump test, alarm check, archive data, or charge up to ten instruments. You can also download the datalogging history from each instrument into one easy to manage location. SDM-3R stations can be manifolded together to reduce the number of demand flow regulators gas cylinders required.

The POLI multi-gas meters offer 4-gas monitoring of toxic gases, oxygen (O₂), combustibles (LEL), carbon dioxide (CO₂) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The POLI MP400P is an advanced model with built-in pump that allows a full selection of sensors for a wide range of applications, including Confined Space Entry, while the POLI MP400 is a basic, 4-gas diffusion detector for worker safety at hazardous locations. Smart sensors carry calibration and ID information with them for quick exchange in the field during Hazmat response. This state-of-the-art instrument can detect a wide range of gases including carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O2), combustible gases, refrigerants and total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). The GDC-350 provides a unique two sensor interface, allowing for multiple gases to be detected with onboard or remote sensors. RKI Instrument's model SD-1 Series smart combustible gas, toxic gas, oxygen, and organic vapor detector/transmitter is a robust and reliable explosion proof design for detecting LEL and ppm levels of hazardous atmospheres. In addition to measuring the common %LEL levels of methane, hexane and isobutane, for example, the SD-1 Series also has the capability of measuring a wide variety of toxic organic compounds in a PPM range such as acrylonitrile, ethylene oxide, n-methyl pyrolidone, methylene chloride and many others. This gives the SD-1 Series a unique niche in RKI's gas detector line-up. The SD-1 has an ATEX/IECEX approval for the explosion class ExdIICT5 and has an IP-65/67 ingress protection rating.
