Direct Connect Sensors

The RKI Direct Connect Sensors series gas sensors are state of the art gas detection sensors available for LEL, H2 Specific LEL, LEL IR, Oxygen, H2S, CO, CO2, and a variety of toxic gases. To use the Direct Connect Sensors, they can be used for remote detection by mounting them onto explosion proof junction boxes, or they can mount directly onto controllers and be used as a completely standalone system. Their unique plugin design allows for a quick and easy tool free installation on jobsites.

Detection solutions for a variety of hazardous environments

The Direct Connect Sensors are designed to be use in both indoor and outdoor settings. Additionally, some of the sensors are available in explosion proof models. The explosion proof models utilize a patented coating which serves double duty as also being water repellant. Users can also purchase splash guards to protect the sensors from very wet conditions.

Sensor Technology

Each sensor is crafted with stainless steel and housed in cast aluminum (stainless steel housing is available for some sensors). The Direct Connect Sensors are available in 2 forms: explosion proof and non-explosion proof. The explosion proof sensors are available as catalytic sensors for LEL, and LEL H2 specific. For hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide, the sensors utilize electrochemical technology which provides incredibly specific accuracy and quick response. Oxygen sensors work with galvanic technology, and infrared sensors for methane, hydrocarbons, and carbon dioxide. Non-explosion proof uses a galvanic sensor for oxygen; electrochemical sensors for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases; and infrared for carbon dioxide. Both explosion proof and non-explosion proof have 1 year warranties for materials and craftsmanship.

Specifications

The response times are under 30 seconds for all gases except hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide in the non-explosion versions (with a response time of 35 seconds) and non-explosion proof model sensor for toxic gases which has a 60 second response time. The life expectancy of all sensors are between 2 and 5 years.

The Direct Connect Sensors are compatible with several RKI Industries' accessories including calibration adaptors, flow through adaptors, remote horns and lights, calibration kits, battery backups, splash guards, air aspirator adaptors, and dataloggers.

The RKI Direct Connect series gas sensors are highly reliable and very cost effective for the detection of common gas hazards. The direct connect series are available for LEL, H2 Specific LEL, LEL IR, Oxygen, H2S, CO, CO2, and for a variety of toxic gases. The sensors for LEL, H2, Oxygen, H2S, CO2, and Carbon Monoxide are explosion-proof with flame arrestors, and approved for use in hazardous areas (Class 1, Div. 1 Groups B, C, D). An optional non-explosion proof version is available for oxygen, H2S, CO, and CO2 for use in non-hazardous atmospheres.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used in two different ways. The sensors can be mounted directly to the controllers as a complete stand alone system, or they can be mounted to explosion proof junction boxes for remote detection.

The toxic sensors are electrochemical type plug-in sensors, which provide high specificity, fast response, and long life. The plug-in design allows quick replacement in the field with no tools required. Toxic sensors are designed for use in Class I, Div. 2 hazardous locations. Sensors are available for NH3, SO2, PH3, AsH3, and HCN.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used either indoors or outdoors. The flame arrestors for the explosion-proof versions utilize a patented coating which make them water repellent. Also, splash guards are available for use in very wet environments. An optional stainless steel junction box is available for corrosive environments.

All of the Direct Connect sensors are designed to specifically interface with RKI Beacon 110, 200, and 410 controllers.

The Single Channel Wall Mount Controller Beacon 110 Model features a space efficient weatherproof wall mounting fiberglass NEMA 4X enclosure with a hinged cover that is also chemical resistant. The model is shipped with an easy to install wall mounting kit. The Beacon 110 long life gas sensors will typically last for over 2 years. The GD-K71D is a complete sample drawing gas monitor, including digital readout and alarm relays. A new gas sensor technology using an intelligent sensor for remote location calibration and setup is used. The new GD-K71D sensors are designed to provide a longer time period between calibrations. Calibration intervals have been extended to12 months of on-line service which equates to reduced maintenance cost. In addition, the sensors can be calibrated away from the gas detector installation, for example in a service area or off site. This eliminates the inconvenience of having calibration gases in the fab or monitoring location. The Eagle 2 can monitor up to 6 different gases and is equipped with several exclusive features that can only be found with the Eagle series. Specialty Sensors

The Eagle 2 has a variety of available specialty sensors. To protect the integrity of the device and the configurations, the unit can be password protected. The Beacon 410 is a customizable, microprocessor based 4 channel gas monitor. The unit simultaneously monitors up to 4 channels with a digital display reading all 4 channel readouts simultaneously. The unit is compatible with the easy to use direct connect sensors for LEL, CO2, 02, and toxic gases. The unit can also monitor any 4-20mA transmitter.

Each channel has 3 fully configurable alarm points. Within each channel, there are 2 dedicated fully configurable relays and a bank of common relays which can be configured as additional channel relays allowing up to 3 alarm relays per channel. Furthermore, a 4-20mA output signal is provided by each channel.

Ease of Use

The wall mount features an easy to read 4 x 20 backlit alphanumeric LCD display which simultaneously reads the gas levels for the 4 gases. Additionally, the Calibration Mode allows for easy calibration while in the field. The control panel allows for an easy understanding of how to adjust configurations. The Eagle One to Six Gas Portable Monitor is available with a wide variety of exclusive features.
