Built around high-quality micro-sensor technology, the GX-2003 is RKI's smallest personal 5-in-1 gas monitor with a built in sample pump. Weighing only 11 ounces, it has many features which set the GX-2003 apart from the competition. For example, it can monitor the standard confined space gases (LEL combustibles, Oxygen content, Carbon Monoxide, and Hydrogen Sulfide), and it can also measure 100% volume Methane and dynamically display either % LEL, or % volume with its auto-ranging ability.

The GX-2003's large LCD display shows all gas readings, battery level, current time, and will automatically backlight in alarm conditions. This unit also has a special bar hole mode to facilitate locating underground gas leaks. A high sensitivity leak check mode is also included, and provides ppm level detection of gas leaks. A special variable frequency alarm helps to pinpoint the leak without looking at the instrument display. Other standard mode alarm types include vibration, visual, and audible alarms that can be set to latching or non-latching. Controlled by a microprocessor, the GX-2003 continuously checks itself for sensor connections, low battery, circuit trouble, low flow, and calibration errors. The GX-2003 can interchangeably operate on either a Ni-MH battery pack or 3 AA alkaline batteries. The batteries are simple to replace requiring no tools to access the battery compartment. The Ni-MH battery pack can receive a charge directly within the instrument or separately, allowing the unit to remain in service.

Calibration intervals and reminders are user adjustable and can be set to either go into alarm or to lock the user out of normal measurement mode once a calibration period has expired. Calibrations can be performed automatically or individually in single calibration mode. The GX-2003 is also compatible with the economical SM-2003 single channel calibration station.

The RKI Direct Connect series gas sensors are highly reliable and very cost effective for the detection of common gas hazards. The direct connect series are available for LEL, H2 Specific LEL, LEL IR, Oxygen, H2S, CO, CO2, and for a variety of toxic gases. The sensors for LEL, H2, Oxygen, H2S, CO2, and Carbon Monoxide are explosion-proof with flame arrestors, and approved for use in hazardous areas (Class 1, Div. 1 Groups B, C, D). An optional non-explosion proof version is available for oxygen, H2S, CO, and CO2 for use in non-hazardous atmospheres.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used in two different ways. The sensors can be mounted directly to the controllers as a complete stand alone system, or they can be mounted to explosion proof junction boxes for remote detection.

The toxic sensors are electrochemical type plug-in sensors, which provide high specificity, fast response, and long life. The plug-in design allows quick replacement in the field with no tools required. Toxic sensors are designed for use in Class I, Div. 2 hazardous locations. Sensors are available for NH3, SO2, PH3, AsH3, and HCN.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used either indoors or outdoors. The flame arrestors for the explosion-proof versions utilize a patented coating which make them water repellent. Also, splash guards are available for use in very wet environments. An optional stainless steel junction box is available for corrosive environments.

All of the Direct Connect sensors are designed to specifically interface with RKI Beacon 110, 200, and 410 controllers.

The 35-3000RK series is a compact sample draw detector assembly with a built-in pump that accepts a 24VDC input. This unit features a NEMA 4X enclosure making it dust, water and corrosion resistant. It also features a flowmeter with adjustable flow and a low flow alarm which warns of any obstructions or restrictions in the flow system. Combustibles, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide versions are available with or without a 4-20 mA transmitter. The 35-3000RK is also available with both LEL and oxygen sensors in one unit.

The 35-3000RK is capable of single person calibrations and remote sampling at up to 5,000 ft. from a controller, and interfacing to any RKI or third party control system (utilizing a 4-20 mA feedback signal). Explosion proof S2 Sensor/Transmitter

The explosion proof sensors use a variety of detection mechanisms including catalytic for LEL and LEL- H2 specific; metal oxide semiconductor for hydrogen; galvanic cell technology for oxygen; electrochemical for hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide; and infrared for carbon dioxide, methane, and hydrocarbons. A hydrogen specific sensor transmitter is not available. Each of these detection methods come with their own measuring range specifications and response times varying from 20 seconds to 45 seconds. These sensors are stainless steel and are housed in a cast aluminum explosion proof J-Box (a stainless steel J-Box is also available).

Non-explosion proof S2 Sensor/Transmitter

The non-explosion proof sensors use galvanic cells for oxygen detection; electrochemical technology for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, and other toxics; and infrared technology for carbon dioxide detection. The response times vary between 20 seconds and 60 seconds depending on the targeted gas, and the measuring ranges vary as well. These sensors are plastic or aluminum and housed in an explosion proof J-Box.

Accessories

The S2 Sensor/Transmitter has numerous accessories available to meet the individual workplace's needs. Such accessories include calibration adaptors, flow through adaptors, remote horns and lights, calibration kits, battery backups, splash guards, air aspirator adaptors or panels, and data loggers.
