Safety through quality and functionality

To fit every environment, there are three versions available. All versions include three electrochemical and one infrared sensor. Depending on the version, the G999 features a catalytic combustion (CC) sensor, a combined CC/semiconductor sensor, a PID sensor or a fourth electrochemical sensor. This allows a variety of gas combinations or measuring ranges to be defined and simultaneously monitored.

The well thought-out design of the housing and the menu navigation, allows for easy operation in difficult situations. G888 – The Perfect Match

It is not always necessary to equip every employee with a gas detector including a pump for safe measurement of confined spaces, but everyone should have a modern multi-gas detector. In such situations the Microtector III G888 is recommended. Like the G999, it offers optimum individual protection for all those who have to work in hazardous areas and/or enclosed spaces.

72-2120-201 Digester Gas Monitor, 100% Volume CH4/25% Volume O2 by RKI Instruments

RKI is proud to introduce our Digester Gas Monitor. Gas from waste digesters contains high levels of methane, CO2, and H2S, with little to no oxygen present. The RKI gas monitor checks for all these gases on a cyclic basis. A powerful air aspirator draws a sample from up to 100 feet away. Since digester gas contains high humidity and high H2S, both of which can cause damage to sampling systems, the RKI Digester Gas Monitor is designed to handle these with no damage to the sampling system or sensors. The sample is passed through a series of dirt, dust, and moisture stopping filters, and these filters are automatically purged with fresh air at the end of each cycle.

Measurement time is just 4 minutes, taken at periodic cycles. Cycle time is selectable, with settings for cycle time of 15 minute, 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours. A cycle can also be initiated anytime by pressing a button. After each cycle, the sensors and sampling system are flushed with fresh air so as to minimize corrosion caused by the high H2S content. The system is fault tolerant minimizing the possibility of expensive repairs or downtime.

System integrity is maintained at all times using a flow fail monitoring device which provides a fail alarm and relay if there is ever a problem with the flow system, such as a blockage, or if the air aspirator compressed air supply is removed or interrupted.

The system is housed in a wall mounting NEMA 4X enclosure. The gas readings can be viewed through the enclosure door clear window. Flow meters and filters are easily visible for confirmation of correct flows and operation. The RKI Digester Gas Monitor contains adjustable alarm levels for each gas, and also programmable alarm relays. In addition, the unit provides 4-20mA signals for each gas concentration for connection to an external DCS, PLC, or other site control system. A Modbus output is also available. The outputs are the readings received from the last cycle taken.

Alarm points

The controller provides four voltage-free relays for the three alarms in addition to one fault warning. The relays may be used to control additional alarm devices like lights or horns. They can even prompt specific counter measures to prevent or limit dangers from gases or vapors.

From one to sixteen channels, the GDA-1600 is designed to provide operators the most detailed, real time information about gas concentrations throughout the facility. Information is relayed to the operator through a large LCD display that shows real time gas concentrations, sensor location, sensor type, as well as historical data trends. Each channel has three independent, user-programmable alarm threshold values that allow for flexibility in alarm notification. When alarms do occur, operators are notified via LED alarm indicators on the front panel, clearly showing which channel is in alarm and the alarm state. Internal relays can also be utilized to control fans, horns, or beacons when alarm thresholds are exceeded. When responding to alarms, information is critical. The GDA-1600 provides more details than any other controller on the market today.

The GDA-1600 is equipped with a fault and three alarm levels per channel with features such as ON/OFF delays, latching relays and alarm acknowledge. A dedicated horn driver circuit for a local audible alarm is also standard. Two standard, 5-amp alarm relays are configurable via the "alarm voting" menu to make relays trip based upon various alarm combinations. If more relays are required optional relay boards can be added.

Real-Time clock and calendar are standard on the GDA-1600. Options such as 4-20 mA outputs and discrete relays are easily added. Single or dual sensor system is designed to monitor gas atmospheres from extreme conditions with either temperature, moisture, or pressure challenges. A powerful air aspirator can pull a sample from up to 100 feet away. The filtered and conditioned sample gas is then passed across one or two different detectors. Each detector shares a common calibration and compressed air inlet for aspirated flow. This system is fault tolerant removing the need for expensive downtime and maintenance. The sample is diluted with air after the gas sensor and then returned to a common exhaust reducing the danger of potential hazardous gases entering a safe work space.

System integrity is maintained at all times using a flow fail monitoring device which provides a NO contact that activates if the sample line becomes blocked or damaged or if the air supply is removed or interrupted.

The panel can be used with direct-connect (sensors connected to an RKI controller), or with S2 Series, and M2 Series transmitters. All transmitters have a 4-20 mA signal for direct connection to the site DCS, PLC or site control system. If needed, RKI instruments can supply a dedicated Gas Detection Control system to provide local alarms, 4-20 mA output with a wide range of dry contacts, making the system very sophisticated and user friendly.
