RKI Instrument's model SD-1 Series smart combustible gas, toxic gas, oxygen, and organic vapor detector/transmitter is a robust and reliable explosion proof design for detecting LEL and ppm levels of hazardous atmospheres. In addition to measuring the common %LEL levels of methane, hexane and isobutane, for example, the SD-1 Series also has the capability of measuring a wide variety of toxic organic compounds in a PPM range such as acrylonitrile, ethylene oxide, n-methyl pyrolidone, methylene chloride and many others. This gives the SD-1 Series a unique niche in RKI's gas detector line-up. The SD-1 has an ATEX/IECEX approval for the explosion class ExdIICT5 and has an IP-65/67 ingress protection rating.

The SD-1 has a 4-20mA signal output as well as relay contacts for interfacing with other control systems or monitoring facilities. All SD-1 types are also available with HART communication instead of 4-20mA relay. SIL2 is available for the IR, EC and OX types. In facilitating non-intrusive conditions in hazardous atmospheres, the SD-1 can be calibrated and it's menus navigated with magnetic switches and a magnetic key.

The calibratable testo 112 precision temperature measuring instrument was designed specially for official inspection measurements. The instrument is approved for official measurements by food inspectors, assessors and official authorities on account of its PTB design approval and the option of calibrating it. A built-in self-test indicates correct functioning before measurement begins. Owing to its wide measuring range, testo 112 is the ideal temperature measuring instrument for all areas of food monitoring. NTC probes (thermistor probes) and Pt100 probes (platinum resistance probes) can both be attached to the probe input, so that a wide temperature range is covered, ranging from deep-frozen products to deep-fat fryer monitoring. In order to document readings, testo 112 provides the possibility of printing data directly on site with date and time. This is particularly interesting for food hygiene inspectors. If adjustable high or low limit values are exceeded, the instrument immediately sounds an audible alarm. Minimum and maximum limit values can be conveniently called up in the two-line display. 0024-1652 Oxygen (O2) sensor by Bacharach

The O2 sensor is used in Bacharach portable combustion analyzers to measure the percentage content of oxygen levels in flue gases. The range of the oxygen sensor is 0 – 20.9%. O2 measurement is used in conjunction with the chosen fuel to calculate the CO2 levels in flue gases. Bacharach portable combustion analyzers only calculate CO2 when oxygen levels are below 16%. Bacharach uses O2 and other readings in determining efficiency rather than CO2 for a more accurate measurement. Measuring oxygen content in the excess air lets you know if you have too much air or too much fuel, allowing you to tune your furnace or boiler to maximum efficiency. Measuring O2 directly can save fuel, and save time during a combustion tune-up test.

Direct Connect Sensors

To use the Direct Connect Sensors, they can be used for remote detection by mounting them onto explosion proof junction boxes, or they can mount directly onto controllers and be used as a completely standalone system. Detection solutions for a variety of hazardous environments

The Direct Connect Sensors are designed to be use in both indoor and outdoor settings. Additionally, some of the sensors are available in explosion proof models. The explosion proof models utilize a patented coating which serves double duty as also being water repellant. Users can also purchase splash guards to protect the sensors from very wet conditions.

Sensor Technology

Each sensor is crafted with stainless steel and housed in cast aluminum (stainless steel housing is available for some sensors). The Direct Connect Sensors are available in 2 forms: explosion proof and non-explosion proof. The explosion proof sensors are available as catalytic sensors for LEL, and LEL H2 specific. For hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide, the sensors utilize electrochemical technology which provides incredibly specific accuracy and quick response. Oxygen sensors work with galvanic technology, and infrared sensors for methane, hydrocarbons, and carbon dioxide. Non-explosion proof uses a galvanic sensor for oxygen; electrochemical sensors for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases; and infrared for carbon dioxide. Both explosion proof and non-explosion proof have 1 year warranties for materials and craftsmanship.

Specifications

The response times are under 30 seconds for all gases except hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide in the non-explosion versions (with a response time of 35 seconds) and non-explosion proof model sensor for toxic gases which has a 60 second response time. The life expectancy of all sensors are between 2 and 5 years.

The Direct Connect Sensors are compatible with several RKI Industries' accessories including calibration adaptors, flow through adaptors, remote horns and lights, calibration kits, battery backups, splash guards, air aspirator adaptors, and dataloggers.
