72-2120A-301 Digester Gas Analyzer, with internal LEL alarm shutoff, 100%vol CH4/25%vol O2/1000ppm H2S by RKI Instruments

RKI is proud to introduce our Digester Gas Monitor. Gas from waste digesters contains high levels of methane, CO2, and H2S, with little to no oxygen present. The RKI gas monitor checks for all these gases on a cyclic basis. A powerful air aspirator draws a sample from up to 100 feet away. Since digester gas contains high humidity and high H2S, both of which can cause damage to sampling systems, the RKI Digester Gas Monitor is designed to handle these with no damage to the sampling system or sensors. The sample is passed through a series of dirt, dust, and moisture stopping filters, and these filters are automatically purged with fresh air at the end of each cycle.

Measurement time is just 4 minutes, taken at periodic cycles. Cycle time is selectable, with settings for cycle time of 15 minute, 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours. A cycle can also be initiated anytime by pressing a button. After each cycle, the sensors and sampling system are flushed with fresh air so as to minimize corrosion caused by the high H2S content. The system is fault tolerant minimizing the possibility of expensive repairs or downtime.

System integrity is maintained at all times using a flow fail monitoring device which provides a fail alarm and relay if there is ever a problem with the flow system, such as a blockage, or if the air aspirator compressed air supply is removed or interrupted.

The system is housed in a wall mounting NEMA 4X enclosure. The gas readings can be viewed through the enclosure door clear window. Flow meters and filters are easily visible for confirmation of correct flows and operation. The RKI Digester Gas Monitor contains adjustable alarm levels for each gas, and also programmable alarm relays. In addition, the unit provides 4-20mA signals for each gas concentration for connection to an external DCS, PLC, or other site control system. A Modbus output is also available. The outputs are the readings received from the last cycle taken.

GfG Instrumentation is a global leader in the design and manufacture of gas detection products used to protect people, facilities and the environment. For over 50 years we have provided gas detection solutions for life critical health and safety applications. Our innovative and reliable gas warning and measurement systems provide the industry benchmark for accuracy, dependability, and cost-effective ownership.

Complex industrial processes and plants are still challenges for safety measures. Sealed spaces, pipelines and further hardly accessible areas as well as extreme ambient conditions are special demands on gas detection for process monitoring and the safety of plants and persons.

With the GMA 200-MGSS gas sampling system, GfG masters these challenges by combining the reliable GMA 200 controller with internal sensors and a electronic gas sampling feed pump. Samples of combustible and toxic gases can be taken from critical areas, processed and analyzed. Afterwards the gas sample can be fed back in the process or in safe areas.

Field-tested analysis

The gas sampling system is based on the GMA 200 controller and provides all of its' advantages:

Integrated relays

GMA 200-MGSS system includes comprehensive and fully programmable relays. Each controller is equipped with eight internal relays. Six of these relays can be freely programmed for alarms and further safety measures. This offers countless possibilities.

Clear display elements

The LEDs display the state of the gas sampling system, the operation mode, errors or service needed. In addition, the GMA 200-MGSS has a LCD graphical display, which continuously shows the current measurement data. In the case of an alarm, the red backlight of the display, the alarm LEDs as well as the relay LEDs will be activated and the active alarm will be shown in the display.

Operation via keyboard

Operation of the GMA 200-MGSS is through easy-to-use menus, and a simple 5 button interface for alarm acknowledgement, and viewing information on the status of the gas warning system, detectors and relays. The intuitive push-button controls make it easy to navigate through additional screens of information. The integrated display enables the reading of alarm levels through the controller LCD for easy hazard assessment.

Modular structure

The GMA 200-MGSS offers a wide range of flexibility and adjusts to your requirements. Due to the modular structure additional components can be added to the base version to perform measurement tasks.

Flame arrestor

If the gas sample is taken from potentially explosive atmospheres, they have to be protected from flames, which can be caused by sparks of electrical origin. For this purpose a flame arrestor can be integrated into the GMA 200-MGSS as an option. In the case that the gas will be led back to the potentially explosive atmospheres a further flame arrestor can be installed on the output of the GMA 200-MGSS.

Condensate trap

Gas samples may include pollution like dust particles as well as condensate. These impurities could damage the integrated sensors. The condensate trap filters the gas samples and greatly increases the lifetime of the sensors.

Water barrier

The water barrier prevents the unintentional intake of water or other liquids while taking gas samples.

Cooling coil

When analyzing gases from areas with extreme temperature, the sample must be cooled to prevent sensor damage.

Valve switching

The additional gas inlet for calibration gas or purge gas makes cleaning the gas channel and calibration of the device easy.

For conventional industrial The CC 33 is available in a lacquered die-cast aluminum housing with 10mm thick bulletproof glass. Applications with special conditions such as e.g. in the Food industry can be covered by a unpainted housing made of stainless steel with a 15mm thick bulletproof glass.

Operation by means of magnetic pin

The three magnetic switches behind the protective glass, which is up to 15mm thick, can be operated using the GfG magnetic pin. The GfG typical three-button operation is easy to understand. The menu is clearly structured and logically structured.

All transmitters of the 22, 29 and 33 series have a uniform user interface. The uniform operation and the logical system structure keep your training and maintenance effort as low as possible.

Proven and innovative is not a contradiction

The CC 33 works on the principle of catalytic heat generation (WT), a proven method for measuring combustible gases. The transmitters are equipped with high-performance electronics for voltage stabilization, processing of measured value output and temperature compensation. The long life of the sensors minimizes follow-up costs.

Sensor technology

With improved sensor technology and the unique GfG "chimney effect", the CC 33 transmitter for combustible gases has one of the fastest response times in the world. There are more crucial seconds left to initiate countermeasures and to bring people to safety.

Universal signal transmission

The measured values and status displays of the 33 series can be transmitted either analog or digital via the Modbus interface. Due to the different variants of signal transmission, a transmitter of the 33 series can be connected to almost any gas warning system as an additional measuring point or in exchange for existing transducers.

Signal processing

The embedded software of the 33 transmitter linearises the measurement signal and compensates for temperature influences. As a result, correct measured values are transmitted even in the event of weather-related temperature fluctuations. The execution of the software enables the detection of faults and, in the Modbus variant, the requirement of required service or maintenance work.

Smart sensors

Pre-calibrated sensor modules can be screwed directly into the sensor receptacle on the housing of the CC 33. The smart GfG sensors are pre-programmed with all the necessary parameters and can be used without much effort ("plug and play"). Sensor changes are shown in the display. (catalytic and electrochemical sensors)

Three freely programmable internal relays

The 33er transmitters can be used as a "stand-alone system". You can set the two alarm thresholds individually and freely program the optional three relays. You do not need a cable to a controller and you can nevertheless reliably switch safety-related devices.

With colored graphic display

The clearly laid-out graphic display makes it easy to read the device status, the current measured value and many other important information. In the event of an alarm, the display turns red. The large LEDs signal from a distance the current device status and thus serve the rapid information of your employees about any alarms or malfunctions.

Using the display, you can easily navigate through the clear device menu and make various settings, including calibration, depending on your user authorization.

Calibration

For regular function control with gas application, a calibration adapter is placed on the transmitter to ensure a safe and even gas supply.
