OSHA defines the breathing zone as a ten inch radius around the worker's nose and mouth, and requires that worker exposure monitoring air samples be collected in the breathing zone. Air sampling filters may be attached to the collar or lapel. Traditionally this means only a single gas monitor would be small enough for a worker to practically wear a gas monitor 'In the breathing zone'. Now there is a 4 gas monitor smaller than many single gas monitors.

The GX-3R is the worlds smallest 4 gas monitor weighing only 3.52 ounces and can comfortably be clipped within a worker's breathing zone (2.2" W x 2.55" H x 1.02" D). It simultaneously monitors and displays LEL combustibles, O₂, CO (Hydrogen compensated CO also available), and H₂S.

The TS400 and TX400 test stations quickly and automatically perform the required function tests on Microtector II G450 and G460 personal gas detectors. The TX400 can also be used to adjust sensors with test gas. Both test stations are available with an optional charging function for the portable gas detectors. Gas detection devices make a significant contribution to safety, if they are tested every working day.

Before each use of a portable gas detection device, its operational capability must be checked with a function test ("bump test"). We developed the TS400 and TX400 test stations to make this process as simple, quick and cost-effective as possible for our G450 and G460 portable devices, while still complying with the DGUV information 213-056 (T021) and 213-057 (T023). During the functional test, the test station can be operated using the display and buttons of the inserted gas detector.

Function test and adjustment

After a switched-on gas detection device is placed into either of the two test stations, the station will automatically start a function test. Within a maximum of 30 seconds, the alarms and response times are tested, the time and test interval are set, and the data is stored on a microSD card (optional). The device will then give you feedback about the test's success or, if applicable, any errors that occured. The TX400 can also be used for sensor adjustment. Before starting the adjustment, the zero point of the sensors must be set with fresh air. The sensor sensitivity is then readjusted using the appropriate test gas. Depending on the device and the number of sensors, this process will take a maximum of four minutes.

Power supply and charging function (optional)

The test stations are powered by an external 12-volt power supply unit or by a PC (connected via USB). If a gas detection device is placed inside the docking station while switched off, it will automatically start charging. Once it is fully charged, the test station will switch to trickle charge mode to conserve battery power. A 230 volt power supply or car charging adapter is required for the charging function.

Equipment and accessories

A gas extraction fitting (optional) should be used for test gas application with a gas cylinder. Both test stations are equipped with one input and one output each for supplying and withdrawing test gas. The data is documented on a microSD card. A mini-USB port can be used to connect the device to a PC.

The all new GDC-150 transmitter from Bacharach offers detection and protection for a wide range of hazards including toxic gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen depletion, combustible gases, refrigerant leaks and total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). Analog interfaces allow the transmitter to be connected back to Bacharach's GDA Series of controllers (or any other gas detection controller), building management systems or control systems. The GDC-150 features 4-20 mA or 0-10 VDC linear output signals, an automatic thermal resetting fuse, RoHS compliant circuit boards and LED indicators for power and open loop.

The onboard alarm LED's indicate when alarm threshold values are exceeded. The unit can be ordered with an optional alpha numeric LED display that shows gas concentrations in real time while alarm relays alert personnel of potential dangers, avoiding incidents and potential hazards.

The GDC-150 is packaged in a rugged, polycarbonate housing for both indoor and outdoor applications. When leaks occur, the GDC-150 sensors respond quickly and accurately to protect people and property. Automated calibration and simple maintenance procedures performed in the field allow for continuous operation and assurance that areas are monitored and protected at all times.

The powerful device is a simple one point gas detection system is capable of accepting RKI Instruments' sensors for LEL combustible gas, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and toxic gases. The model has a built in audible alarm of over 94 dB, a visual alert system with 4 flashing LED lights, and 2 programmable alarm levels. e 10 amp rated relay contacts allow users to directly control the audible alarm system. The plug and play intelligent sensors make for easy setup and calibration by internally retaining calibration and sensor data. This allows workers to replace sensors while in the field without the need to reprogram the equipment. For little maintenance and optimal reliability, the internal technology automatically adjusts for long-term zero and span drift. The pump flow is also self-tuning for low maintenance functioning. In general, the smart sensors use electrochemical cell detection, semiconductor detection, pyrolysis-particle detection, galvanic cell detection, and catalytic combustion detection.

The GD-70D Series features a large LCD display that easily reads all notifications and provides a color coded graph for alarm status (first and second alarms are red, and fault alarms are yellow). The LCD screen displays the pyrolyzer connection, gas concentration, detection unit of measurement, the detected gas, the maintenance status, sensor identification, the flow rate, a graph of gas concentration, error codes, and alarm points. All operational settings are completely user adjustable from the front panel. The unit also has a self-diagnosing function which detects sensor trouble and system failure.
