94119-10 Lunar and Planetary Filter Set, 1.25" by Celestron

Colored filters can be used to bring out details on a planet's surface or its cloud structure. All of the planetary filters included in the Celestron Lunar and Planetary Filter Set can be used on any 1.25" eyepiece with the proper filter threads, so they are very versatile. Just screw one onto the eyepiece of choice and slide it into the focuser.

This Celestron filter set includes the following colors:

• 12 Deep Yellow - A good general purpose filter for smaller aperture telescopes (less than 4.5"), the #12 Yellow will improve the contrast of features on the Moon. It will also help you see the equatorial belts on Jupiter and Saturn, clouds and the polar ice caps on Mars, and the dusky detail on Uranus and Neptune.
• 21 Orange - Sharpens the boundaries along the plains of Mars due to the reduction of blue/green transmissions. Use on Jupiter and Saturn to enhance detail in the belts and polar regions.
• 80A Blue - Enhances the contrast of the cloud belts on Jupiter and the polar ice caps on Saturn. It also can be used to increase contrast on the Moon if you don't mind the color shift.
• ND-96-0.3 Neutral Density - A great filter for the Moon, and for stacking with other planetary filters to increase density without changing the color. A neutral density filter is also useful when splitting binary star systems (double stars). Use anytime you want to decrease brightness but don t want to affect the color characteristics of an object.

Each Celestron 1.25" filter has 26 mm of clear aperture, and is mounted in a black anodized aluminum cell that is threaded on both sides. Double threads allow the user to stack different filters together to create a custom color or affect the transmission percentage. Special coatings on each filter protect against reflections, ghosting, and scratches. A plastic case is included to keep your filters safe when not in use.

Our 1-1/4" Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light. This includes mercury vapor, and both high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. sky glow).

The new ultra high contrast (UHC) LPR filter has improved contrast over the typical broadband filters. Sky background is darker, and contrast of emission nebulae are noticeably improved. The advanced technology coatings enable the filter to achieve an outstanding transmission of over 97% across the entire bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. The perfect filter for viewing nebula from light polluted skies, or for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites.

In addition to it's optimum spectral and optical characteristics, the UHC/LPR filter offers important features that set it apart and result in the highest quality celestial views:

The multi-layer dielectric coatings are plasma assisted and Ionbeam hardened using the latest technology for durability and resistance to scratching.

The Celestron Cheshire Collimation Eyepiece is ideal for precise collimation of Newtonians and helpful for aligning Schmidt-Cassegrains. This special eyepiece fits into 1¼" focusers or diagonals.

94223 CG-4 Polar Axis Finder by Celestron

Get some help polar aligning your Celestron Omni or CG-4 mount with the addition of the Polar Axis Finder. Install the finder into the polar finder port, located at the rear of the mount, and focus the eyepiece until the reticle is sharp.

The reticle is etched with a few recognizable star patterns to help you align your telescope. If you are using your telescope in the Northern Hemisphere, you will recognize the Big Dipper asterism on the reticle, as well as the familiar "W" of Cassiopeia. Use the Big Dipper to guide you in the spring and summer months, and Cassiopeia during the fall and winter. The North Star, Polaris, is also designated on the reticle, as is the NCP, or North Celestial Pole. Once you choose which star pattern to use, align your telescope so that the stars line up with the positions shown on the reticle, then move the telescope's azimuth and altitude adjustment controls to place Polaris in the crosshairs.

The Celestron Polar Axis Finder can also be used in the Southern Hemisphere. Four stars of the constellation Octans are etched in the reticle. Adjust your telescope until those stars line up as shown on the reticle.

If you are loading extra equipment on your Celestron Advanced VX Equatorial Mount, you may need additional counterweights. This anodized counterweight is made for the 20 mm Advanced VX counterweight shaft, and weighs 12 lb., or 5.4 kg. A sturdy knurled knob locks the counterweight safely in place.
