GD-70D Series Intelligent Gas Detector

The GD-70D Series Intelligent Gas Detector is a new smart gas detection transmitter that monitors combustibles, oxygen, and a wide range of toxic gases. The unit can be used as a standalone device, integrated with other PLC systems, or integrated with RKI's Beacon series of single and multi-channel controllers. Its common platform integrates numerous detection methods and requires very little maintenance.

Exclusive Features

The plug and play intelligent sensors make for easy setup and calibration by internally retaining calibration and sensor data. This allows workers to replace sensors while in the field without the need to reprogram the equipment. For little maintenance and optimal reliability, the internal technology automatically adjusts for long-term zero and span drift. The pump flow is also self-tuning for low maintenance functioning. In general, the smart sensors use electrochemical cell detection, semiconductor detection, pyrolysis-particle detection, galvanic cell detection, and catalytic combustion detection.

The GD-70D Series features a large LCD display that easily reads all notifications and provides a color coded graph for alarm status (first and second alarms are red, and fault alarms are yellow). The LCD screen displays the pyrolyzer connection, gas concentration, detection unit of measurement, the detected gas, the maintenance status, sensor identification, the flow rate, a graph of gas concentration, error codes, and alarm points. All operational settings are completely user adjustable from the front panel. The unit also has a self-diagnosing function which detects sensor trouble and system failure. The Intelligent Gas Detector has a convenient troubleshoot feature through its firmware. This allows users to investigate and resolve their own equipment issues while minimizing maintenance costs.

Specifications

The Intelligent Gas Detector is a convenient size for workplace and wall space efficiency with dimensions of 2.8 D x 4.7 H x 5.9 D and weighs approximately 2 pounds. It can be mounted to a wall easily with a base plate and 2 or 3 screws. Sensor replacements and pump replacements can be performed quick and easily without tools.

The RKI Direct Connect series gas sensors are highly reliable and very cost effective for the detection of common gas hazards. The direct connect series are available for LEL, H2 Specific LEL, LEL IR, Oxygen, H2S, CO, CO2, and for a variety of toxic gases. The sensors for LEL, H2, Oxygen, H2S, CO2, and Carbon Monoxide are explosion-proof with flame arrestors, and approved for use in hazardous areas (Class 1, Div. 1 Groups B, C, D). An optional non-explosion proof version is available for oxygen, H2S, CO, and CO2 for use in non-hazardous atmospheres.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used in two different ways. The sensors can be mounted directly to the controllers as a complete stand alone system, or they can be mounted to explosion proof junction boxes for remote detection.

The toxic sensors are electrochemical type plug-in sensors, which provide high specificity, fast response, and long life. The plug-in design allows quick replacement in the field with no tools required. Toxic sensors are designed for use in Class I, Div. 2 hazardous locations. Sensors are available for NH3, SO2, PH3, AsH3, and HCN.

The Direct Connect sensors can be used either indoors or outdoors. The flame arrestors for the explosion-proof versions utilize a patented coating which make them water repellent. Also, splash guards are available for use in very wet environments. An optional stainless steel junction box is available for corrosive environments.

All of the Direct Connect sensors are designed to specifically interface with RKI Beacon 110, 200, and 410 controllers.

The M2 Stand Alone Transmitter is operational with or without a controller and is available in two forms: explosion proof and non-explosion proof. Advanced sensor technology

The state of the art sensors are long lasting with a lifespan typically over two years. Sensor construction is rated Class I, Division 1 groups B, C, and D for flammables, CO, H2S, O2, and CO2. The sensors are rated Class I, Division 2 for all other toxic gases. Depending on the gas, the sensors will operate through a catalytic, galvanic cell, electrochemical, or infrared design. The plug in nature of the sensors allows for a quick and tool free onsite replacement.

Specifications

Each transmitter features 2 to 3 years of life with normal service. The explosion proof LEL H2 specific transmitter has 3 to 5 years with normal service, and the explosion proof carbon dioxide, methane, and hydrocarbons feature over 5 years of life with normal service. The explosion proof transmitters are also water repellant. Each device is approximately 8.5 H x 5.2 W x 4.5 D and features an alphanumeric display with a backlight. The screen displays 8 characters per line with 2 lines for gas concentration readouts.

Optional Accessories

The M2 Stand Alone Transmitter has a variety of optional accessories available including calibration adaptors, flow through adaptors, remote horns and lights, calibration kits, battery backups, splash guards, air aspirator adaptors or panels, and dataloggers. The Two Channel Wall Mount Controller Beacon 200 Model is housed in a wall mounting grey polycarbonate casing with a hinged cover. The NEMA 4X enclosure is waterproof, chemical resistant, and weather resistant ensuring maximum protection against potential environmental hazards that could damage safety equipment. It is user-friendly with 4 push buttons for setup, programming, and calibration. The unit also features 1 external push button for alarm reset.

The alarm system features an audible and visual alert system. The built-in audible alarm uses a 94 dB alert system, and the visual alerts feature 4 ultra-bright LED lights on the front cover. For hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide, the sensors utilize electrochemical technology which provides incredibly specific accuracy and quick response. Oxygen sensors work with galvanic technology, and infrared sensors for methane, hydrocarbons, and carbon dioxide. Non-explosion proof uses a galvanic sensor for oxygen; electrochemical sensors for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases; and infrared for carbon dioxide. Specifications

The response times are under 30 seconds for all gases except hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide in the non-explosion versions (with a response time of 35 seconds) and non-explosion proof model sensor for toxic gases which has a 60 second response time. The life expectancy of all sensors are between 2 and 5 years.
