Fire Sentry FS System 10™

A high-speed microprocessor based fire detection and process control system specially designed for liquid and powder coating applications, the Fire Sentry FS System 10™ quickly detects the presence of a flame, reacts by initiating a shutdown of the electrostatic finishing process in a matter of milliseconds; and effectively interrupts the fire before residues and wet paint films can ignite.

The Fire Sentry FS System 10 is the only system that provides a two-stage response: an ALERT for spray gun "fireball" type fires and if the fire continues, a FIRE ALARM is declared in 4-5 seconds.

The Fire Sentry FS System 10 is vastly superior to conventional detectors due to the electro-optical quantum infrared sensors array and the ability to accurately detect fires without false alarms. The FS System 10 is available in both wallmount controller and card controller configurations. (For additional information on card controller, consult the factory.)

The detector is mounted in an explosion-proof housing. The wall-mounted controller is a self-contained system mounted in a NEMA 12 enclosure with LCD display and LED status lights. Three 10-amp mechanical relays have been incorporated for shutting down the paint flow, electrostatics and conveyor. Event history and fire tech data are reported by the detector in real time and data, then stored in the controller's non-volatile memory. FirePic™ and SnapShot™ data can be downloaded from the RS-232 port of the controller from your PC. The controller may operate with one or two detectors.

Fire Sentry FS10-R Unitized

The Fire Sentry FS10-R Unitized is a multi-spectral infrared electro-optical flame detector designed specifically for liquid paint or powder spray booth applications. Based on the Fire Sentry FS System 10, the FS10-R Unitized flame detector meets the need for a stand-alone capability and complies with the NFPA 33 Standard. The WideBand IR™, NearBand IR, and Visible sensors combined with the advanced signal procession provide optimum performance. High spend fire response with optional factory sensitivity settings and alarm outputs provide the best, proven solution to fire detection for the Finishing Industry.

Operation

The Fire Sentry FS10-R Unitized detector is designed to operate with any approved fire alarm panel. Interface with fire alarm panel is accomplished using the detector's ALARM, ALERT and FAULT relays.

When power is applied, a self-test is automatically performed and the FAULT relay is energized to show that the detector has no faults. The front LED blinks every ten seconds to indicate normal operation.

In normal operation, the continuous spectral data stream of information from the sensor array is analyzed by the microprocessor. With two distinct relay outputs, the Fire Sentry FS10-R Unitized provides an ALERT output for spray gun "fireball" type fires, and if the fire continues a FIRE ALARM is declared in 4-5 seconds.

The detector stores all the pre-fire spectral data from the sensor array in non-volatile memory for retrieval and evaluation. The Fire Sentry FS10-R stores the last six FirePic™ events, each 8 seconds long; and 200 event histories with time and date stamp. The FirePic data can then be used to postulate the cause of the fire.

The FS20X is the latest generation high technology Multi Spectrum (UV/Dual IR/VIS) Fire and Flame Detector, which is part of the FSX family of advanced technology Electro-Optical Flame detectors.

Based on the foundation of the highly successful and reliable SS4 detector, the FS20X detector represents a quantum leap in integrating Infrared and Ultraviolet sensing technologies. The FS20X is a Multi-Spectrum and UV/Dual IR/VIS fire and flame detector with a proven UV solar-blind sensor. The FS20X exhibits faster false-alarm free response to fires over a wider temperature range and with a much longer detection range compared to conventional UV/IR detectors.

Conventional and older technology UV/IR detectors, using narrow band 4.3 micron IR sensors, will not respond to smoky fires or if the detector lens is contaminated with oil and other substances since both UV and 4.3 micron signals are attenuated, obscured or absorbed by thick smoke or detector lens contaminations. All UV sensors will be attenuated to some degree. Also, these old technology UV/IR detectors will not alarm to any fire if they are installed behind ordinary window glass.

Dual microprocessors provide a high level of fail-safe operation combined with fast and reliable performance. The master microprocessor performs high-speed digital sampling and signal processing calculations whilst the slave microprocessor handles various sensor data, performs communications, self-diagnostics and provides interface versatility and additional memory for storing event log and FirePic™ data. The FS20X detector has a detection range in excess of 60 m (200 feet) (very high sensitivity setting) for the detection of a 0.1m² (one square-foot) Heptane reference fire and has a cone of vision greater in volumetric coverage than most UV/IR detectors. This means fewer detectors can be used as compared to other manufacturers' detectors.

The FS20 detector using advanced patented algorithms for signal processing and fire and flame analysis is designed to alarm to all types of fires in all industrial environmental conditions. If the detector's UV signal is degraded due to heavy smoke or a contaminated lens, the FS20X's patented WideBand IR™, Near Band IR and Visible sensors will still alarm to fire, albeit at a reduced sensitivity and slower response time.

FS7-2173-RPK FS7 Multi-Spectrum Fire and Flame Detector, 20'C/6'T, KALREZ O-RING by Honeywell Analytics

The Fire Sentry FS7-2173 electro-optical radiant energy fire detector - and the Fire Sentry FS7-2173-2RP (unitized model) with multi-spectral WideBand IR™, Near Band IR and Visible Band fire detection are designed specifically for semiconductor Clean Room fire protection applications.

The Fire Sentry FS7 fire detector provides and intelligent two-stage response to semiconductor wet bench fires:

Stage 1: Alert. This is the first-stage response to a small fire with a heat energy output of 3 kW (the equivalent of a 4-inch diameter polypropylene pool fire). This allows time for the fire to self-extinguish.

Stage 2: Alarm. If the fire does not self-extinguish, and grows to the Factory Mutual specified heat energy threshold of 13 kW (the equivalent of an 8-inch diameter polypropylene pool fire), the second-stage response is activated.

The Fire Sentry FS7-2173 is used with Fire Sentry FS7-130-SX Controller or Control Panel FSWB. Controller and Control Panel supply power to detectors monitor the status of all detectors and communicate with the detectors via the digital RS-485 communication channel. Fire Sentry FS7-2173 is supplied with a standard 20 ft. cable connector. Detectors are connected to the controller or control panel using the self-locking connectors and Fire Sentry junction boxes. This allows for fast and easy connections eliminating wiring problems. Each detector can store up to six time and date stamped FirePics™ (pre-event multi-spectral sensor array data) in non-volatile memory. Controller and control panel can also store event history table in the non-volatile memory, which contains the time and date stamped alert, alarm and fault histories. FirePics™ and event histories can be retrieved from the controller or control panel.

Fire Sentry FS7-2173-2RP unitized model's microprocessor, with digital signal processing algorithms, continuously monitors the circuitry, sensor's built-in selftest and verifies proper operation. Fire Sentry FS7-2173-2RP with discrete relay outputs is designed to operate as a stand-alone detector and interface with any approved fire alarm panel. The detector requires an external 24 VDC power source and is supplied with a standard 20 ft. pigtail cable. It can store up to six time and date stamped FirePics™ and 200 events in non-volatile memory. FirePics™ and event histories can be retrieved using a Fire Sentry FS7 Interface Kit and the Fire Sentry Windows-based PC software.
