Features

The Eagle One to Six Gas Portable Monitor is available with a wide variety of exclusive features. The unit is capable of PPM/LEL hydrocarbon detection and for environmental use, has a methane elimination switch. The dual hydrophobic filters (available on some models) ensure quality control. To preserve the integrity and safety of the device, the portable monitor also has an adjustment lockout switch to prevent tampering. For quick and easy testing, the monitor offers autocalibration and single gas calibration.

The Eagle is housed in an ergonomic RFI, EMI, chemical, and weather resistant polycarbonate and polyester enclosure. It can operate in the rain or in 2 inches of water without damage. It features an ergonomically designed top handle to ensure durability.

Accessories and Options

IR Sensors are available for CO2, % LEL CH4 or HC, and % volume CH4 or HC. Each unit also has datalogging capabilities for research, evaluation, and analysis of worksite atmospheres. The unit comes standard with several accessories including a shoulder strap, alkaline batteries, a hydrophobic probe, a 5 foot hose, and an internal hydrophobic filter with most models. Specifications

The Eagle has a battery life of up to 30 hours of continuous operation with alkaline or Ni-cad capability and a sensor life of approximately 2 years. Its standard weight is approximately 5 pounds with dimensions of 10.5 L x 5.9 W x 7 H. The formidable long life pump (with a life of approximately 6,000 hours) reaches up to 125 feet in range with filters and has a low flow pump shut off and alarm. The unit has a response time of up to 30 seconds for most gases, and features a double alarm of audible alerts at 85 dB and visual alerts of dual high intensity LEDs and a flashing display screen.

The display screen is an easy to read 4 x 20 LCD readout. The backlit display sits at the top of the unit for full visibility, and displays the readings and statuses of 4 channels simultaneously.

RKI Instrument's model SD-1 Series smart combustible gas, toxic gas, oxygen, and organic vapor detector/transmitter is a robust and reliable explosion proof design for detecting LEL and ppm levels of hazardous atmospheres. In addition to measuring the common %LEL levels of methane, hexane and isobutane, for example, the SD-1 Series also has the capability of measuring a wide variety of toxic organic compounds in a PPM range such as acrylonitrile, ethylene oxide, n-methyl pyrolidone, methylene chloride and many others. This gives the SD-1 Series a unique niche in RKI's gas detector line-up. The SD-1 has an ATEX/IECEX approval for the explosion class ExdIICT5 and has an IP-65/67 ingress protection rating.

The SD-1 has a 4-20mA signal output as well as relay contacts for interfacing with other control systems or monitoring facilities. All SD-1 types are also available with HART communication instead of 4-20mA relay. SIL2 is available for the IR, EC and OX types. In facilitating non-intrusive conditions in hazardous atmospheres, the SD-1 can be calibrated and it's menus navigated with magnetic switches and a magnetic key.

Continuing in its legacy of durable and reliable gas detection and monitoring systems, RKI Instruments is proud to offer a new product in its popular Eagle portable gas detector series. The Eagle 2 can monitor up to 6 different gases and is equipped with several exclusive features that can only be found with the Eagle series. In addition, its large glove friendly push buttons and LCD screen ensure an ease of use when onsite. Specialty Sensors

The Eagle 2 has a variety of available specialty sensors. Workers can use a photoionization detector for low or high range VOC detection and Fence Electrode Technology for humidity and contamination resistance. Exclusive Features

The monitor has a long internal pump that can draw samples for up to 125 feet. The pump features a low flow auto shut off and alarm. This allows operators to respond swiftly from a safe distance. The unit is multilingual with 5 different language preferences, and features an alkaline battery life of 18 hours or a NiMH life of 20 hours. To protect the integrity of the device and the configurations, the unit can be password protected. The Eagle 2 also has standard data logging capabilities for easy research, evaluation, and site monitoring. To reduce calibration costs and time, the unit features an automatic calibration option and a single gas calibration option.

The Eagle 2 is heavily protected from environmental conditions by a weather proof, chemical resistant RFI/EMI coated high impact polycarbonate/PBT blend enclosure. The enclosure also renders the unit water and dust resistant. Because of the enclosure, the Eagle 2 can function in 2 inches of water without leakage.

Not all gases can be monitored directly at the measuring point. This may be because the maintenance of a remote sensor would be too complicated or because the target gas has to be broken down into detectable components first. This can be done using a pyrolyzer.

In these cases, the D-ReX PoS with its integrated pump is an ideal solution. The point of sampling (PoS) can be up to 100 feet / 30 meters away from the D-ReX. This also applies to the length of the recirculation hose.
