93640 1.25" Universal Barlow and T-Adapter by Celestron

If you'd like some flexibility in your astrophotography set-up, consider the Celestron Universal Barlow & T-Adapter (93640). This 1.25" accessory can be used three ways: as a 2X Barlow for visual use, as a prime focus T-adapter, or as a Barlowed" T-adapter for double the magnification and the benefit of extra inward focus travel.

The Universal Barlow & T-Adapter can be used as a 2X Barlow right out of the box. Insert any 1.25" eyepiece into the chamber and you'll enjoy double the magnification, while retaining all the eye relief of the inserted eyepiece.

The Celestron Universal Barlow & T-Adapter can also be used for prime focus photography, which means you use the telescope as a photographic lens a very big photographic lens! Just unscrew the bottom section of the unit to remove the Barlow and slide the chrome barrel into the telescope's 1.25" focuser or adapter. Lock it firmly in place with the focuser or adapter thumbscrew. T-threads on the top of the adapter screw into a T-Ring (sold separately) that is designed to attach to the brand-specific mounting flange of your DSLR or SLR camera.

Please note that some telescopes, especially "fast" refractors and Newtonians, may not have enough focus travel to allow the photographic image to come to focus when used in prime focus mode. In these instances, adding the Barlow to the T-Adapter will allow the telescope to reach focus. In "Tele-Extended" mode, the Barlow doubles the focal length and f/ratio of your telescope, resulting in an image on the sensor or film plane that is twice the size of a prime focus image.

Prime focus and tele-extended photography are popular for short exposure images of terrestrial objects as well as celestial objects like the Moon.

This T-Adapter allows you to attach your 35mm DSLR camera to the prime focus of your EdgeHD telescope. This arrangement is used for terrestrial photography and short exposure lunar and planetary photography. It can also be used for long exposure deep-sky photography when using a separate guidescope.

Both a T-Adapter and T-Ring are required to mount a 35mm SLR camera to your instrument.

The Celestron Dew Shield DX is an essential accessory that protects your optical tube in the field. It prevents excess moisture in the air from forming condensation on the corrector lens. A dew shield also helps block stray light from entering the telescope for better viewing and astroimaging. Use the Dew Shield DX on your 9.25" and 11" Schmidt Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA (with single dovetail) optical tubes with confidence.

Construction

The Dew Shield DX provides a perfect, custom fit designed specifically for 9.25" and 11" Celestron optical tubes. The Dew Shield is built from durable PE plastic that is flexible but strong. Extra padding has been added at the tube attachment edge to create a stronger fit on the optical tube. The felt-lined interior absorbs any additional stray light and excessive moisture, creating optimal contrast when viewing and imaging. The large dovetail cutout has been made both wider- to accommodate a 4" wide dovetail rails, as well as deeper, to create a more solid connection with the optical tube.

Attaching the Dew Shield to your optical tube is easy thanks to the Velcro attachment points. Whether your optical tube is 9.25" and 11", simply adjust the Velcro for the correct fit.

Colored filters can be used to bring out details on a planet's surface or its cloud structure. All of the planetary filters included in the Celestron Lunar and Planetary Filter Set can be used on any 1.25" eyepiece with the proper filter threads, so they are very versatile. Just screw one onto the eyepiece of choice and slide it into the focuser.

This Celestron filter set includes the following colors:

• 12 Deep Yellow - A good general purpose filter for smaller aperture telescopes (less than 4.5"), the #12 Yellow will improve the contrast of features on the Moon. It will also help you see the equatorial belts on Jupiter and Saturn, clouds and the polar ice caps on Mars, and the dusky detail on Uranus and Neptune.
• 21 Orange - Sharpens the boundaries along the plains of Mars due to the reduction of blue/green transmissions. Use on Jupiter and Saturn to enhance detail in the belts and polar regions.
• 80A Blue - Enhances the contrast of the cloud belts on Jupiter and the polar ice caps on Saturn. It also can be used to increase contrast on the Moon if you don't mind the color shift.
• ND-96-0.3 Neutral Density - A great filter for the Moon, and for stacking with other planetary filters to increase density without changing the color. A neutral density filter is also useful when splitting binary star systems (double stars). Use anytime you want to decrease brightness but don t want to affect the color characteristics of an object.

Each Celestron 1.25" filter has 26 mm of clear aperture, and is mounted in a black anodized aluminum cell that is threaded on both sides. Double threads allow the user to stack different filters together to create a custom color or affect the transmission percentage. Special coatings on each filter protect against reflections, ghosting, and scratches. A plastic case is included to keep your filters safe when not in use.
