Durable infrared technology

Thanks to the high stability and a resistance to contamination, Draeger infrared sensors can generally be used for up to eight years. In addition, a sensor calibration is only necessary every 12 months which reduces maintenance costs.

Single or dual sensor—accurate measurement results

The infrared sensor IR Ex allows the measurement of explosive, combustible hydrocarbons in the range of the lower explosive limit. The infrared sensor IR CO₂, with a measurement resolution of 0.01 Vol.-%, provides safe and exact measurements as well as a warning against toxic concentrations of carbon dioxide in the ambient air. For those applications where the reliable measurement of explosive substances and CO₂ is specifically needed, the advantages of both can be achieved by a dual sensor (Dual IR CO₂/Ex).

Pump or diffusion mode – suitable for your respective application

The X-zone 5800 offers two options for sampling gas: remote pump from 30 m (98 ft) for Zone 0 or diffusion. The pump or diffusion cover plate can be changed without tools.

Besides hydrocarbons, hydrogen can also be an explosive gas. Because sensors based on infrared technology do not warn against hydrogen explosion dangers, the gas detector X-am 5600 combines two sensor signals (Infrared Ex and electrochemical H2) for reliable hydrogen detection. The X-am 5600 provides the advantages of poison-free technology to be used in areas where, until now, only catalytic Ex sensors have been used.

Single or dual sensor system is designed to monitor gas atmospheres from extreme conditions with either temperature, moisture, or pressure challenges. A powerful air aspirator can pull a sample from up to 100 feet away. The filtered and conditioned sample gas is then passed across one or two different detectors. Each detector shares a common calibration and compressed air inlet for aspirated flow. This system is fault tolerant removing the need for expensive downtime and maintenance. The sample is diluted with air after the gas sensor and then returned to a common exhaust reducing the danger of potential hazardous gases entering a safe work space.

System integrity is maintained at all times using a flow fail monitoring device which provides a NO contact that activates if the sample line becomes blocked or damaged or if the air supply is removed or interrupted.

The panel can be used with direct-connect (sensors connected to an RKI controller), or with S2 Series, and M2 Series transmitters. The display screen is an easy to read 4 x 20 LCD readout. The backlit display sits at the top of the unit for full visibility, and displays the readings and statuses of 4 channels simultaneously.
